Airsoft Ban In Florida!!
Friday, February 17, 2006
The Florida Senate may soon pass a bill that will make it illegal to own or use an Airsoft in the State of Florida.
Here is the bill: sb1490
Bradley Winston of Winston & Clark P.A. in Plantation, FL has taken a step to retain one of the NRA’s lobbyists, Rick Watson to fight this bill from making its way to the books as it stands presently. At least $10,000 is required to pay for the lobbyist's fees.
Bradley is a member of the Southeast Airsoft Legion, a member of Florida Airsoft, as well as a Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer. He has been successful in getting the “Switchblade Law” in Florida changed years ago by working with Rick Watson.
Presently, donations are needed to retain the lobbyist to fight on our behalf. Bradley is collecting donations thru Paypal at contributions@southeastairsoftlegion.net. Please mark the donations “Lobbying Donation – Airsoft”. Remember, at least $10,000 is required for airsoft to have even a fighting chance. Everyone should pitch in whatever they can to make this happen!
We urge all airsoft hobbyists in the State of Florida, as well as abroad to donate as much as they can. For airsofters in other parts of the country, think about how fast something like this in your home state will pass if Florida has already banned it.
Please spread the word and let other people know what's going on - be sure to contact your favorite airsoft retailer as well as this effects them as well.
Also, for the voting public in the State of Florida, we urge you to contact your districts State Representative, and mail them a letter letting them know you do not agree with this bill as it stands, and you are a registered voter.
Now is the time we as a whole need to come together.

UPDATES:
The bill has gone in for revision and should be released on March 7, 2006. Brad Winston (Falcon) continues to take donations via Paypal at contributions@southeastairsoftlegion.net.
Operation Just Cause is being held on April 2, 2006 in Daytona Beach, FL to raise money for the lobbyist effort to fight the bill.
Operation Just Cause was a huge success. We raised the necessary amount to pay Rick Watson to hopefully drive the last nail in the coffin. We want to thank Falcon (Brad Winston), Demo and everyone who came out to the game. We also want to thank JINX and OP-4 Airsoft, DOC and Alien Airsoft and Monji, a local vendor from Orlando, who donated items for the raffle. Also, Falcon had donated some items that netted a little over $700 towards the cause! Click here to check out pictures and video from Operation Just Cause. |
