OPERATION DIAMONDBACK

"G2 says the NVA sent in a new officer to reorganize the Cong in the valley. Some hot-shit golden boy sent by Uncle Ho himself. Guess he thought we were getting bored with nothing to fight except flies and crotch-rot from the boom-boom girls.

They hit Firebase Chicago a couple weeks ago. Things exploded all over during Tet and Charlie wanted to be sure we got a piece of the action. The Cav sent in gunships and some slicks to look for survivors but nearly a whole company had just vanished. Just the firebase all shot to hell and blood everywhere.

Division decided to reinforce the valley. We're heavy now with Army, Marines and a bunch of snake-eaters that keep trying to teach the local livestock to carry C4 saddlebags to Hanoi. We've got the muscle... but Charlie's out there waiting for us. Watching us. We're heading north tomorrow..."
